New31DC: Day 7 - Ombré or Skittle
Hey there lovely readers! Today is Day 7 of the New 31 DC. One week down, woohoo! I am very happy with my progress so far and I feel like I'm making a lot of progress in my goal to step up the nail art for you this year. Today is no exception, and I have done what is now I believe my favorite mani I've done to date.
Today's theme is Ombré or Skittles. (If you don't know what these are, ombré is painting each nail a different shade of the same color progressing from light to dark. Skittles are when you do something different on each nail, not restricted by the same color family.) I was actually feeling really uninspired for today, and spent most of yesterday trying to work out what to do on my nails. Just when I felt like I was never going to come up with something good I glanced at this pack of scrapbooking paper that my Mom sent me. (This will be going on my Helmer to prettify it!)
What a perfect place to find inspiration for a patterned skittle mani!
The colors used for this are Ciaté Mojito, OPI You're A Pisa Work, and MASH Nail Art Polishes in Black and White.
My index and pinky each got one coat of the MASH White. My ring and thumb each got 2 coats of Mojito. (Which was my untried polish for this mani... at least I managed to get one in there!) My middle got one coat of MASH Black.
For the nail art I used a dotting tool on my thumb, freehanded the stripes with a striping brush, freehanded the swirl flowers with a tiny paint brush and MASH White polish, stamped my ring with MASH-41 and the MASH Black polish, and stamped my pinky with MASH-42 and OPI You're A Pisa Work.
I am so in love with these, and kind of disappointed to take them off and work on tomorrow's nails!!
